A government directive now requires that ALL phone numbers MUST be
registered in Ghana by Mobile Networks before use. This includes lines belonging to
children under the age of 18 and SIM cards used in modems or any other
data devices such as iPads, iPhones and Tablets.
There is a need for every subscriber to register their SIM cards. SIM
card registration is important as it will help reduce SIM related crimes
which include hate messages, kidnappings, fraud in mobile money and
many others.

Anglogold Ashanti is involved in the exploration, development, and mining of gold. The new company is a result of merger between Ashanti Goldfields and AngloGold. Its operation is in Ghana called the Obuasi, Iduapriem and Bibiani mines, which together produced 680,000 ounces of attributable gold in 2005, at total cash cost of $339 per ounce. The Obuasi mine is located in the Ashanti region of Ghana. It is primarily an underground operation, although some surface mining still takes place.
